A natural athlete, he played football in high school, and later became an accomplished skier and mountain climber.
With his physical abilities, it was not a surprise when he made the Raven List at age 59. He went on to become our current #1 runner and #2 swimmer. (September 2007) , and in the process won all the major Raven Run awards.

Through hard and prosperous times, Gringo always has a smile on his face.
He possesses a very positive outlook in life and his kind and happy attitude are ever-present.
Tom displays an uncanny knack for changing a runner’s nickname to something else. His favorite is translating the nickname to Spanish.
His young and vibrant personality allows him to live life to the fullest. Whether it is dancing carelessly across the rocks on the jetty or running in a straight line on the boardwalk.
Tom has become an amazing runner, who although never ran in a race, would easily win his age group.
"I have to run the Raven Run in the afternoon" he would reply when asked about not entering a race.
Although he has added 8 runs and 16 swims to his totals so far in 2007, he has been unable to run as often as he would like due to an heel injury and his work schedule.
